John and Marlena were lying in her bed. John was holding her. He was so grateful to have her in his arms alive and ok. He was so scared he would never hold her again. He looked in her eyes; “Fate seemed to arrange it so we wouldn’t be here without each other.”

Marlena was about to say something but was interrupted by the sound of someone knocking at the door. Mike pops his head in. “How is the patient?”
“Well Mike why don’t you see for yourself.” John starts to climb off the bed. “Be right back.” He caresses her hand against his face. He walks to the door and stands there just looking at her for a second. He closes the door and leans against it. “Thank you God. Thank you for keeping her safe and bringing her back to me.” He walks off.
Inside Marlena’s room Mike is checking all of her vital signs. “Heart is fine. Blood pressure still a little low but much better. Lungs are clear. Everything is much better. You are one lucky woman.”
“Has John been checked out?”
“Not since finding you. He hasn’t left your side long enough. He really cares about you. I have never seen anyone so determined to find someone in my entire life.”
“I know I’m very lucky to have him in my life. Mike would you tell him to come back up here please?”
“Of course I will. Maybe you will be able to talk him into being checked out.”
“I’ll try.” Mike left Marlena alone. She looked over at the seat that was just vacated by John. Something he said came back to her. “You know I don’t think I ever fully realized how much you meant to me until tonight. You risked everything for me lady. Nobody had ever done that my entire life. She was thinking when she heard a knock at the door and say John poke his head in. “Hey Pretty Lady. Mike said you wanted to see me.”
“Yeah. I need to talk to you about something.”
“Doc you know you can talk to me about anything. What is it?”
“I was just thinking about something you said. You told me you didn’t realize how much I meant to you until tonight. I want you to know I didn’t realize how much I needed you until tonight. I was so scared that you would die before I told you how I felt.”
“Marlena I’m not going anywhere. I’m fine and right here.”
“I know that John. Tonight when Stefano found out that I took the diary he told me I was to late and that you had been killed…” She started sobbing.
“But I wasn’t. I’m here Doc.”
“Will you let me finish?”
“Yes continue.”
“I realized something before tonight that I haven’t told you.” Her voice started to break with what she said next. “When… you… were… on… trial…”
John moved her face to look at him. “Look at me Marlena. Listen. Calm down. Take a deep breath and tell me what you want me to know.”
Marlena took a deep breath. “Ok I’m ready. When you were on trial a feeling I thought was buried down inside of me came back out. And the more time I spent with you and the kids the more it grew. And every time I would see you with Kristen I would get so jealous.”

Marlena continued as though she didn’t hear her name. “I know it maybe to late to tell you this.”
“Marlena…”
“I know you still love Kristen and I want you to know no matter what I still want to be your friend…”
John spoke up a little louder this time. “Marlena…” He caught her attention. “Will you let me speak now?” She nodded her head yes. “Tonight when I was in the gas chamber one thought was all I was thinking about. That was how much I hated what was happening. It wasn’t because I was dying. It was because I was leaving the woman I love. The woman who didn’t know how much I loved her.” He looks at her and smiles. He gently wiped the tears off her check. “That was of the woman that stood by me every step of the way. “I’m still in love with you Marlena. Not Kristen not anyone else, just you.”
She had tears in her eyes again. “You love me?”
“Yes Marlena Evans, I’m still madly and completely in love with you.”
“Oh John.” He leaned in and kissed her. It started off soft at first but John started attacking her hungrily. “Marlena I just think it is better if we wait.”
“John I’m tired of waiting. I was waiting to tell you that I loved you and I almost didn’t get a chance to ever tell you. After tonight I have realized life is too short to wait. I almost lost you. Today might be all we get and if it is the last night I have on earth I want to be with you, in every way possible. John I want you. No I need you to make love to me tonight.” She sits up on the bed.
