“Oh…umm… just a surprise I wasn’t expecting!” Lexie explained seeing the worried look on her friends faces. John composed himself first, after silently praying it was a good surprise. “Is the baby….ok?” he asked urgently “no…the BABY isn’t ok… the BABIES are great!” she said smiling. Marlena looked at her questioningly “You’re having twins!” Lexie told her “Twins?” she asked “Yes, twins. Do you want to know what they are?” she asked, referring to the sex of the babies. Marlena looked at John “I don’t know… do we?” she asked him, john laughed. “Hey, YOU’RE the one who will be pushing these kids out of your body, you choose!” “…ok Let’s wait!” Marlena said slowly, then looked at John “Is that ok?” “Sure Doc! if that’s what YOU want!” John said gleefully and lexie smiled. “Ok then, let me know if you change your mind, and if not, then I guess i’ll see you next month!” she said leaving the room as Marlena thanked her. “Twins! wow!” John said enthusiastically, and Marlena smiled “You know, there’s all kinds of rumors going around as to who this baby’s… THESE BABIES daddy maybe!” she said winking. The trip to New York, had yet to be mentioned, so no one even thought of John as being the father to Marlena’s children. The only people they THOUGHT that knew were Aaron and Lexie, but what they DIDN’T know was that Alice Horton, the matriarch of Salem suspected that exact thing, that suspicion confirmed as she saw the 2 of them leaving Salem University Hospital, smiling and laughing.

“John!” Marlena called coming from the kitchen “Yeah Mar?” he asked from the top of the stairs “I want some chips…” she said matter of factly. “…Potato….chips?” he asked distinctly remembering she had hated potato chips when they were younger. “mhmm…. and you don’t have any in the kitchen…can you get us some?” she asked putting a hand over her stomach “Sure! Turning half way up she frowned “John! You know I HATE potato chips!” and with that she went upstairs to take a shower::
