John slammed her against the wall. “You slept with him? How could

each leg, placing a kiss on the inside of each ankle and wrapped them
around his back. “I love you Doc.” And then he slammed into her. She
screamed out his name at the pain, which quickly faded into the most
pleasure she ever remembered. Her nails leaving marks down his
back, her legs holding on to him tightly. “John I want all of you. I want
you in me, now baby.” He started slowly thrusting into her, a little at a
time until she was ready for him. He knew the exact moment, she
would start arching up into him, begging for all of him.
He thrust harder, faster into her. She was so close, he could feel her
body tightening around his. His mouth attacked her breast, sucking on
her nipples. She tasted so good. He couldn’t last much longer, all he
could feel was Marlena. Her warmth, her wetness, her heat, her body

Chapter 7
John and Marlena drove back to the penthouse, holding hands and
grinning at each other like love sick puppies. “John, I can’t believe it.
We bought a house. Our very own house. I am so excited to think
about us sleeping there tonight. Thank you for getting this for me. I
love you so much”, she kissed his palm and brought his hand to cover
her heart.
“For us. We bought this house for us. This is our new beginning Doc.
Our own place with no thoughts or memories of other people in our
place. Let’s go pack and then go HOME. That does sound nice
doesn’t it? Let’s order something to eat from the Penthouse Grill and
eat dinner in our new house on the balcony, how does that sound?”
“Oh John, it sounds wonderful. And we will need some champagne to
toast our new life. And maybe some dessert, we have some
strawberries and cream at the penthouse, I think we should take those
with us, don’t you?” she winked at her husband. ‘He is so good to me’
she thought, ‘I need to pack something extra sexy to wear tonight’ her
mind racing through her lingerie drawer, trying to think of the perfect
slinky item to wear tonight.John was thinking of how to make the
perfect setting for his wife in their new home. He wanted to order
dinner and eat on their balcony in their bedroom, ‘then I can build a
fire and have a romantic dessert with my wife’ he smiled, ‘I’m so glad I
got my wife back, I couldn’t have lived if she wasn’t in my arms’.”I love
you Doc. I want us to have our happily ever after now. No more
problems from the past or from other people trying to mess up our
love, nothing and no one can hurt us now. We are soul mates and we
belong together”.
“John, I love you so. I am blessed to have your love.” tears were
forming in her eyes thinking about all the troubles they had
experienced since they were married, hopefully now things would run
smoothly for them.

The Blacks walked hand in hand in the penthouse. “Ok Doc, you go
upstairs and start packing, I have some things to do down here first
and I’ll be up in a minute” he pulled her in for a quick kiss and lightly
pushed her toward the stairs.
Marlena quickly ran up the stairs, she wanted to pack some surprises
of her own before John came to their bedroom. She was looking
through her clothes, trying to find the perfect thing to wear when she
heard the phone ring. “I’ll get it” she yelled to John and rushed toward
the phone by the bed, “Hello” she answered.
“Marlena, this is Kate. I need to talk to John, is he there?”
Marlena cringed, “He’s downstairs right now and he is busy, can he
call you back later?”
“No Marlena, I need to talk to John NOW!” Kate screamed, “This is life
or death!”
Marlean rolled her eyes at the phone, “calm down, I’ll see if he can
take your call” she walked down the steps, “John, Kate is on the
phone and says it’s very important, do you have time to talk to her?”
John looked up at his wife, “can this wait?” he whispered to her, his
face questioning his wife.
Marlena covered the phone with her hand, “she says it life or death
that she talk to you right now, just talk to her and hurry so we can go
back to our home” she kissed him quickly and handed him the phone.
She had started back up the stairs when she stopped suddenly.
Something was wrong, terribly wrong, but she didn’t know what it was.
“Hi Kate, what is it?” John abruptly answered the phone. He was

Chapter 8
“Hi Kate, what is it?” John abruptly answered the phone. He was
barely listening to Kate as he finished packing the wine and

panic, trying to find Marlena. He stopped suddenly when he looked at

“Thanks Kate, we’ll be right there.” John hung the phone up and
looked back at Marlena, how could he tell her this? How would she
handle this?
“John, honey what’s wrong?” Marlena walked over to her husband,
looking into his eyes, trying to read the expression on his face, “What
is it?”
“Doc, honey, Kate said that Roman was on the way home from work
today and had a heart attack. He’s at the hospital in critical condition,
they don’t if he’s going to make. She wants us to call the kids and
meet her there.” John watched Marlena, the range of emotions
washing over her face. “Doc, honey are you okay?” He knew she still
loved Roman and she would always love him in a special way, he
hoped she would be able to handle this.
Marlena nodded her head and looked up at John, tears falling down
her face. “Oh John, this is going to kill Sami, how is she going to
react?”
John shook his head… that was his wife, always thinking of her
children, always putting someone else’s needs before her own. “Doc,
let’s go get Sami and take her to the hospital with us, she’s going to
need her mother with her. Do you want to call Eric and Carrie? Or do
you want me to?” watching her cry was breaking his heart.
“No John, I need to call my children. I think you’re right, we need to tell
Sami in person, not over the phone.” She leaned toward John, “Will
you just hold me for a minute, I don’t know what to think or do right
now. What if he dies John? What if he really dies this time?” She
started crying harder.
John reached for his wife, pulling her into his tight embrace, “Doc, let’s
not think about that right now. We need to stay positive and not worry
unnecessarily.” He stroked her hair, kissing the top of her head, “why
don’t you go ahead and call the children and I’ll meet you downstairs.”
Marlena leaned back and kissed him gently on the lips, “I love you so.
I can get through anything with you by my side.” She smiled.”I’m not
going anywhere baby, I’ll be with you the entire time that Roman
needs us. Now get going so we can go get Sami and go the hospital.”
He patted her leg, urging her on to make the call to the kids.
Marlena called Eric and Carrie and gave them the bad news. As she
walked down the steps to meet John, she kept praying that Roman
would be alright ‘he just has to make it’ she kept saying over and over
to herself.
John had called the hospital to get an update on Romans situation. He
reached out for Marlena as she came down the stairs, “come here
honey, you look like you need a hug.” He pulled her in tightly to him
again. Trying to give her some strength and comfort through his
embrace, “how did Carrie and Eric take the news?”
Marlena held him tightly and began crying again, “Carrie wasn’t home,
I talked to Mike and he was going to pick her up from work and tell
her. He said he would call once they made arrangements to come
home. Eric took it pretty good considering, but you know Eric, he’s not
going to break down right now.”
John kissed her lightly on the tip of her nose, “Come on Doc, I called
and talked to Lucas, he’s already taking Sami to the hospital. Kate had
already called and told him and he’s already told Sami.”
Marlena started crying again, “My poor baby, how’s she doing?””Not
too good. Lucas said she was crying and wanted her mommy. I told
him we would be there in a few minutes, so let’s go.” He held her hand
and guided her through the door. John knew Marlena was still trying to
be strong right now, but he knew that facade would crumble when
they reached the hospital and she saw Roman in this condition.
Chapter 9
John watched Marlena through the glass. She had been in Roman’s
room with the children ever since they arrived. Kate had come out to
give them some time alone with Roman, she hated to step back to
allow Marlena time with him, but she knew the children all needed to
be with Marlena right now, not her.
John went to get some coffee, “Kate, would you like me to bring you
some coffee back? I know you must be exhausted right now, why
don’t you sit down over here and rest a few minutes?”
“No thanks John. I can’t sit down or drink anything until I know my
husband is going to be alright. I wish I could go back to him.”
“Kate, that was a very big gesture you made to allow Marlena and
their children some time alone. When I get back with the coffee, I’ll get
Marlena to come out and rest with me a few minutes and then you can
go back in, how does that sound?”
“Yes! Please John, that would be great. I know Eric, Sami and Carrie
all want to be with their Mother and Father right now, but I need to be
with my husband. We can take turns, right?” she smiled up at him.
John patted her on the shoulder, “I’ll hurry back.” He went off in search
of some coffee for himself and Marlena. He was glad she could be in
there for the children, but he was honestly hoping she would come out
with him for a while. Yeah, it was selfish of him, and a little bit of
jealousy in there too, but damn, he had just gotten his wife back, he
didn’t want to lose her to Roman again.
Marlena was holding Carries hand. The stood back behind Sami and
Eric who had taken up residence beside their fathers bed. “Look
children, your father needs some rest now. We shouldn’t all be in here
at one time right now, he needs to gain his strength and rest right
now.”
Sami turned to look at her Mother, “Mom, how can we leave him now?
He needs us now more than ever” tears running down her face.
“Oh baby girl, we aren’t leaving him. We will stay outside until he
wakes up. But he needs his rest and besides I think Kate would like to
come back in with her husband.”
Sami’s eyes flashed and before she could spew out hatred for Kate,
Eric stopped her. “Look Sami, Mom’s right. We shouldn’t all be in here
right now anyway. We can take turns and as long as one of us is in
here at a time, Dad won’t be alone. The rest of us can stay outside.
Come on sis, you know it’s best for Dad.” he reached for her hand,
“Right Carrie?”
Carrie spoke up, “Sami, Marlena and Eric are right. If you want to stay
in here a little longer, you can sit in here with Kate, but you have to
promise that you want say anything negative toward her, Dad may be
unconscious, but he can still hear things and any fighting right now
may hurt him worse.”
“Sami, do you want to stay in here? If you do, I’ll go talk to Kate and
make sure it’s ok with her.” Marlena watched her daughter, hoping she
would be an adult right now and do the best thing for the family.
Sami looked at her family, trying to decide if she could sit in the same
room with Kate without hitting her, but it was for her Daddy. She would
do anything to make him come back to them, “Yes Mom, if you
wouldn’t mind talking to Kate, I would like to stay with Daddy for a
while longer, and I promise I’ll be on my best behaviour.” she smiled
up at her Mom.
Marlena leaned down and kissed her daughter, “Alright, I’ll be right
back. Carrie and Eric, why don’t you both be saying your goodbyes to
your Daddy, tell him you’ll be right outside and will see him soon. I’m
going to go talk to Kate and then I’ll come back in”, Marlena stepped
outside the room and saw Kate. She was leaning against the wall with
her eyes closed, tears running down her cheeks.
Marlena stood there for a minute. She knew that Kate and Roman
were married and in love. She also knew that she would also have
spot in her heart for Roman, they had been married and had children
together. She wanted nothing more than for him to be healthy and out
of the hospital. Marlena walked over to Kate and reached out to hug
her, “Kate, I’m so sorry you have to go through this, I can’t imagine
how your holding up right now.”Kate looked up at the woman she
considered a friend. She had always liked Marlena, but secretly she
was also jealous of her. Marlena had all the men’s hearts and had
everything in the world. She was beautiful, smart, had a wonderful job
and seemed to have all the men that Kate loved. Kate loved Roman
and wanted to be the only woman in his heart, but she knew that
Marlena would always have a special place in his heart.
“Thank you for coming Marlena. I know it’s hard on you to see Roman
like this. I’m glad you could get all of the children here to be with him.”
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. I explained to them that I
don’t think it’s good for Roman for us all to be in there at the same
time. Sami would like to stay a bit longer if thats ok with you. I told her
that I knew you would want to get back in there, so we wanted to know
if it’s ok with you if Sami stays in there with you. She’s promised that
she will be on her best behaviour for her father’s sake.”
“Of course she can, I think at a time like this we can all put the past
behind us and concentrate on Roman’s health”
“Good, let me go back in and tell her and then the rest of us will come
on out and let you go in.” Marlena walked back to the room. She
wanted to talk to Roman too before she left his room. She opened the
door, “Carrie and Eric, if you two don’t mind waiting outside, I’m going
to talk to Roman and Sami a minute and then I’ll be right out.” she
smiled and watched her two children leave the room.
“Roman honey, it’s me Marlena. I know you can hear me so I want you
to get better immediately and get out of this hospital. I know you hate
being in here too. I hope you aren’t in too much pain and I hope you
know that everyone here loves you.” Marlena leaned over and kissed
his cheek, “I’ll be right outside this door with the rest of the family.
Please wake up soon.” Marlena stood back up and walked over to
Sami.
“Samantha, Kate is getting ready to come in here and I want you to
promise me that you will behave. The last thing your Dad needs right
now is for you to be fighting with his wife.”
“Mom, I promise. I just want Dad to get better like you. I won’t do
anything to upset him” Marlena hugged her daughter tightly, “I Love
you Samantha. I’ll be right outside if you need me.”
Sami smiled at her Mom, “I love you too Mom.” and she walked back
over and sat by her Dad, holding his hand.
Marlena walked out the door and saw John coming in to the waiting
room with a tray of coffee. She looked at him and saw his face light up
when he saw her, ‘How did I ever get so lucky to find such a loving
man?’ she thought and quickly made her way over to him, “John, I
hope one of those cups is for me.” she smiled at him.
John looked up at his wife, he was still amazed at how beautiful she
was, even after she had been crying all afternoon.”Of course it is Doc,
I wouldn’t leave you out.” he joked and leaned in for a quick kiss,
“How’s Roman? Any change?”
“No, he’s still out. I asked the kids to come out so Kate could back in
with him, I know it was hard on her to be out here. I think it was very
thoughtful of her to let us all be in there. I would never leave your side
if the situation were reversed.” she leaned in and hugged her
husband, “Could you hold me please?” she whispered in his ear, “I
really need you right now.”John’s heart warmed at her simple request,
“My pleasure Doc. I love you baby” and engulfed her in his arms,
holding her tightly to him.
“John, promise me that we’ll be together always. Not even death could
seperate us, right?” she leaned back and looked at her husband, ‘God
how she loved this man’. tears started down her face again.
“Doc, honey, what’s wrong? Why would you ask that question? We
were meant to be together and nothing and nobody is ever going to
break us apart.”
“I’m sorry for asking such a question at a time like this. It’s just seeing
Roman like that really made me thing of how fragile life is. I don’t think
I could stand it if we weren’t together.” her body shaking with sobs at
this point.
John walked her over to the sofa and sat down beside her, “Doc

They sat in the hospital over night, all the family sat in the one room,
waiting on word of Roman. Finally around 3:00 am, Sami came out of
her daddy’s room,with a smile on her face. “He’s awake. The doctor
said he would be fine. He needs to stay in here for a few days for
observation and tests, but he’s going to be ok.”
She rushed to her mother, “Mom, Daddy is asking for you, can you
please go to him?”
Marlena unwrapped her arm from around John and turned to whisper
in his ear, “I’ll be right back baby, please don’t leave me.” John smiled
at the love of his life, “Never Doc, I’ll be right here waiting on you. Now
go check on Roman.” Marlena stood and reached for Sami, kissing
her on the top of her head, “Samantha, why don’t you go home and
get some rest honey, you’ve been by you Father’s side all night.”
“I will Mom, I’m really tired, I just couldn’t leave until I found out that
Daddy was going to be ok. I love you Mom.” Sami hugged her Mom,
finally realizing how much her parents meant to her. Marlena hugged
her daughter, “I love you too Sami, now go get some rest baby girl.”
She motioned for Eric, “Can you take your sister home to get some
sleep?” “Yes Mom, I”ll probably crash on her couch and then we can
come back in a little while. I love you Mom.” Eric reached down and
pulled his Mom into a hug, kissing her cheek. “Oh my babies, I love
you both so much.” Marlena smiled as she watched her twins walk
down the hall, no matter how big they got they would always be her
babies.
She wiped the tears from her eyes and went to Roman’s room, slightly
knocking as she opened the door. “Roman, can I come in?” “Hi Doc,
I’m glad you could come in for a few minutes. I would like to talk to
you.” “How are you feeling Roman?” “Don’t worry about me Doc, the
doctors say I’m going to be fine. I’ll need some rest and tender loving
care, but Kate can help me with that” he winked at his wife and pulled
her into him, lightly kissing her lips.
Kate stood, “Roman, I want you to talk to Marlena for just a few
minutes, I’m going to go get me some coffee and when I come back
visits are over, you need your rest.” Kate smiled at Marlena, “Please
make if quick Marlena, he needs his rest.” Marlena smiled at Kate, “I’ll
only be a minute” as she watched her leave the room.
“So Roman, Sami said you wanted me. Is everything ok?”
“Yes Doc, I’m going to make it. But let me tell you, this was a wake up
call for me. I definately know whats important to me now.”
“I’m just glad you are doing better, you gave us all a scare last night.”
“Doc, I was hoping you could help me out. When I get better, I would
like to renew my vows to Kate, our wedding didn’t go off as we had
planned and I would like to have a proper wedding and honeymoon,
could you help me plan the details? You were always good at planning
things.”
“Of course I’ll help Roman. And you should also ask your daughters
for their help, you know Sami and Carrie would love to help their Dad.
I think it’s a lovely idea. It can be your new beginning with Kate. John
and I are buying a house, that is going to be our new beginning. I think
we all need a fresh start.”
“Thanks Doc, I knew I could count on you. Speaking of John, why
don’t you two go on home, I know all of you have been here all night.
Just send Ma and Pop in before you leave. You can tell the others to
come back later in the day.”
“Sure thing Roman.”
“Doc, thanks again for being such a great friend.”
“Oh Roman, take care of yourself. I’ll send Shawn and Caroline in.”
Marlena left the room and hurried to the waiting area, for some reason
she had an overwhelming need to be in Johns arms. As she turned the
corner, she saw the love of her life. His head was leaned back, his
eyes closed. ‘Oh my he is so handsome’ she thought ‘I love him so’.
Marlena relayed the message from Roman to the family and went to
John, lightly reaching her hand, running her fingers thru his hear,
“John baby, let’s go home” she whispered to him. John stirred when
he felt her touch, he opened his eyes and saw her standing over him.
“Marlena, how is Roman?”
“He’s doing well. John, let’s go home baby. I need some sleep.”
“We’ll have to go back to the penthouse baby, we don’t have beds or
sheets at the new house.”
“That’s fine. I just need to be in your arms. I want you hold me.”
“Doc, are you ok?” John was worried about his wife, she seemed
upset.
“I’m fine John. I’m just exhausted. I’m tired and a little emotional after
watching Roman go thru all of that. I need my loving husband to hold
me and tell me everything is going to be ok. I need him to kiss me. I
need him to love me. I need him to make love to me. Do you think he’s
up to that?” she smiled up at him.Her smile sending shivers down his
spine. He loved it when she teased him. “I think he’s definately UP to
that. You never have to worry about him being UP to a challenge Doc.
Surely you know that.” he gave her his half smile and pulled her to
him.”I love you so much Doc. Let’s go spend the rest of the day in bed
together.” “Now that Mr. Black, is an offer that I can’t refuse”, she
pulled him in to her, giving him a spineshattering kiss.
Chapter 11
John and Marlena walked out of the hospital, hand in hand. They kept
glancing at each other, smiling, so happy to be a couple. Their love
was so powerful.
John led Marlena to the car and opened her door, helping her in, he
leaned and placed a quick kiss on her lips before shutting the door.
She watched him walk around the car and get in, ‘I’m so lucky to have
him in my life. He loves me so.’
John got in and started the car, steering for the penthouse. Marlena
leaned into him, kissing his neck, “John I love you so.”
“I love you too Marlena. Are you sure your ok?” he was worried about
her seeing Roman in that condition. “I’m ok John. It was hard to see
him in such a bad shape. It was difficult seeing how badly the children
were handling the situation. It made me appreciate the time we have.
It made me appreciate the husband I have who loves me
unconditionally. I can’t tell you how much you mean to me. I wouldn’t
be able to take it if something happened to you John.” she started
crying.
“Hey now, Doc it’s ok. We are together. We are healthy and nothing is
going to tear us away from each other. We are meant to be together.
Our love is too strong. Now lean back and try to rest on the way
home.” he kept her hand in his, trying to comfort her with that little
contact.
Marlena tried to lie back and relax. She was in such an emotional
state right now. She wanted to show John how much he meant to her.
He was so caring and loving to her, no man had ever treated her so
well.
Marlena watched him drive. He kept one hand on the wheel and the
other held hers tightly. He kept glancing at her and smiling, trying to
ease her fears. At each stoplight, he would lean over and kiss her,
whispering comforting loving words in her ear.
He was turing her on. She wanted him to love her. She wanted to love
him. Sliding her hand over to his leg, slowly moving up his thigh.
John breathed in deeply, he was ready for her now, he hoped she
would behave until they got home. Then he would make slow gentle
