John hated the thought that he had to go back to work today. Usually
he wanted to actually work but Marlena had been home only two days.
He had missed his wife so much. He was more than willing to allow
Kate to handle things at the office but she called telling him an
important client had called requesting that John handle the new part of
his business. John agreed to come in for just a few minutes and then
he wanted to get home to his wife. He stepped off the elevator and
was greeted by Kate. She was of course wearing something John
thought was to revealing for work. He turned away from her walking to
the desk outside his office. He saw that his secretary was gone. Now
that he noticed it no one was there. “Where is everyone at?”
“I gave them the day off. I figured that for the little that is going on
today that you and I can handle it.”
“Kate I was only going to be here for the meeting with Mr. Anderson,
then go back home so I can spend some more time with Marlena.”
“John I know how much you want to be alone with Marlena. Roman
just came back home to but we still have to make sure that Basic
Black is up and running or we all will be out of a job.”
“Yeah I guess you are right. I’ll be in my office. Just tell Mr. Anderson
to come on in when he gets here.” He went into his office and closed
the door before Kate could follow behind him. John couldn’t believe
how she was acting right now. She should be just like him, wanting to
spend time with the great love of her life instead of hanging all over
John like a cheap suit. “What the hell did I ever see in that woman?
God those drugs must have really screwed up my brain.” He walks
over to his desk and picks up the phone. When he sits down he picks
up the picture of Marlena that is sitting on his desk. He listens to the

“Hello Marlena Evans.”

“I needed to hear your pretty voice and also tell you that I’m sorry I

“No it’s not the meeting. When I got here the only person working was

started happening and now we are swamped.”
“Do you need any help?”
“Baby I didn’t call to make you feel like you have to come down here.”
“I know I don’t have to but I want to. Basic Black is just as important to
me as it is to you. I know it is your baby. Plus I don’t want the Black
name ran into the ground; remember that’s my last name to.”
“I remember. I really don’t know what you could do over here though.”
“I could put info into the computer, check files, and answer phones.
Anything you need.”
“I’m sure I could find something for you to do. I’ll see you in about
twenty minutes.”
“Ok baby. I love you.”
“I love you to.”
She hung up the phone and picked up the bag that had Kate’s gown in
- “The main thing I can do is make sure Kate keeps her damn hands
off my husband.”

Marlena arrived at Basic Black dressed in a nice black suite. She
knocked at John’s door and heard him say come in. She walked in his
office with a big smile on her face. “I’m reporting for work Mr. Black.”
John got out of his seat and walked over to her, placing his hands on

helping me.”
“It’s my pleasure John. The quicker you get done here, the quicker I
can get you home.”
“When we get home I have a few things in mind that we can do.” He

were lost in there own little world. John’s hands were roaming

turned to find Kate standing there.
“What are you doing here?”
“She came to help us out. Is Mr. Anderson out there?”
“Yes he is.”
“Ok well show him in.” He turned and looked at Marlena. “Well I guess
you can go to Sarah’s desk and she had some files she was going to
put in the computer. Also just answer the phone and after this meeting
I need you to take down some notes so they will be here for her
tomorrow.”
“Is that all Mr. Black?” She flashed a sexy smile that made John’s
knees go weak.
“Oh yeah and about the thing we were interrupted on before, we will
continue that later.” He leaned in and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
He pulled away and saw Kate come in followed by Mr. Anderson.
“Sorry for the wait Mr. Anderson. I would like to introduce you to
someone. Mr. Anderson this is my wife Marlena. Marlena this is my
top associate Terry Anderson.”
Mr. Anderson extended his hand for Marlena to shake. “Well John I
have to say you have incredible taste for beautiful women. It is very
nice to meet you.”
“Like wise.” Marlena dropped his hand and looked at John. “Well I
think we had better go so you can get to your meeting. I’ll see you
when you are done.” She walked out the door followed by Kate. She
turned and stared at Kate. “You seemed very surprised to see me.”
“I was. I had no idea that you were coming.”
“I know that is true but there was more than surprise in your voice. I
think I noticed anger.”
“I have no idea what you are getting at Marlena.”
“I think you know what I’m talking about. I know what you are up to.”
“I have no idea what you are talking about.”
“You are after my husband.”
“I think all that time in the castle held by Tony has made you
paranoid.”
“I’m not paranoid.” She threw the bag with Kate’s nightie in it. “I
decided it was time to take out the trash that was left over when you
were staying there. You left that in my drawer on purpose hoping I
would find it and get up set at John or to at least rub it in my fact that
he was with you.”
“Well the fact is that he did move on with me and he loved every
minute of it.”
“Yeah that maybe true but you will be surprised what drugs can make
you do.” She noticed the surprised look on Kate’s face. “Yeah John
told me all about his drug problem. I wonder how it must feel to know
that the only way I could get a man to touch me is if he is drugged up.”
“You are wrong about that. John loves me.”
“That is where you are wrong. John was with you because I wasn’t
around. He wouldn’t have looked at you twice if he had any idea that I
was still alive.”
“It must drive you crazy that John had sex with me.”

and over again. I know you want John and I understand that but he is
my husband and if you keep on trying to take him away from me there

“I assure you that I will.” The phone rang and she answered it. “Hello
Basic Black. Right now he is in a meeting but I will tell him you called.”
She looked back and smiled at Kate. “You told John there was a lot of
work needed to be done so why don’t you get at it.” Kate turned
around and walked away and Marlena went to work.

Marlena was on the phone when she saw Mr. Anderson walk out of
John’s office. She had the perfect plan in mind. She took off her top

dictations you would want me to take down.”

pen.”
“I’m so sorry Mr. Black. I’m so dense, could I borrow some of your?”
“You are very lucky that you are so attractive Miss. Evans or I might
have fired you long ago.”
Marlena got the pen and paper from John and sat in the chair that was
closest to him. She reached out her hand and ran it down his leg.
“Thank you for helping me Mr. Black.” She smiled seductively at him
