It is 7 in the morning and the alarm clock goes on waking Marlena Evans up “Shut the hell up!!” she pulls the clock out and throws it to the wall. It was Monday and school started in 1 hour ago. She hated it; she hated her life in school. Everyday the same stupid things, hearing the same lame gossip and always being the topic of the discussion. And why? Just because she hadn’t a boyfriend and the other girls were teasing her about it, not knowing that Marlena hated what they were doing to her.
It was lunchtime and Marlena sat alone on a bench hoping that the others wouldn’t bother her today. But her wish didn’t come true. 5 girls came towards her.
“Hey Marlena why did you disappear?”
“I didn’t disappear”
“Wasn’t Mr. Matthews hot today?’
“Here we go again” Marlena thought to herself, rolling her eyes. “Sex talk” they always talked about sex and their boyfriends, pissing Marlena that way.
“Mr. Matthews is always sexy”
“Would you sleep with his to get a good grade?”
“Sure. Why not? He isn’t different from the other guys”
Marlena had enough of this
“Excuse me I should better go”
“Aww Marlena when ever we are talking about boys you always ran away. Are you afraid?” Kristen Blake asked
“Why would I be afraid? I just find it boring that you always talk about it. There are other subjects too, but the only thing you do is talk about who slept with whom”
“Girls maybe we should change the subject. After all it is not nice to talk about our boyfriends and boys in general when poor Marlena don’t even have a boyfriend” Kristen made fun of Marlena.
Marlena had enough of this
“And what makes you think that I don’t have a boyfriend?”
“Well you never talk about him? “
“Well maybe I don’t want to talk about it with you. After all it is my life”
“Ohh now Marlena tries to tell us that she has a boyfriend”
“I had enough. I’ll leaving”
“You see girls? That is what I am talking about”
Everyone started to laugh
“I do have a boyfriend I can assure you of that” Marlena lied so they would leave her alone
“And why haven’t we seen him yet?”
“Because he works”
“Where”
“He is a cop”
“So you are saying that he can’t even find 5 minutes to see you? I guess he doesn’t love you that much” Kristen knew she was angering Marlena that way but she had fun doing it
“Fine! You want to meet him then you will meet him, and after that you will stay the hell away from me. I had enough of you lately”
Marlena run away before the others could say anything else
“Oh shit Marlena what have you done?”
After school was over, Marlena went straight to Hope’s house
“Hope you have to help me”
“What’s wrong?”
“I screwed up, I made the biggest mistake of my life”
Marlena started telling Hope what went on at school today
“And now they expect me to bring my boyfriend at school this week. Fuck where did I get myself into?”
“Oh honey why did you do it?”
“I was so tired of them making fun of me. I never have thought they would ask to see my boyfriend”
“Why didn’t you say that he is out of town?”
“They wouldn’t believe it. Oh Hope you have to help me”
“And what can I do?”
“Find me a boyfriend so I can show his to these bitches”
“You want coffee? I sure need it.. it is going to be a long day”

One hour passed and the two of them haven’t found a solution.
“Ok I have one idea!!! What if you would present Bo as your boyfriend?”
“But he is your boyfriend”
“I know but he can pretend to be yours for 2 hours. What do you think? He knows you, so he wouldn’t deny”
“I don’t know Hope, I would feel kind of awkward using him. I feel him like a brother. It wouldn’t work”
“Ok, how about Roman?”
“I can’t stand him”
“Tony?’
“Gives me the creeps”
“Girlfriend you are difficult”
“Jack”
“He is out of town”
“Really?”
“Yep”
“How about John?”
“John? You mean John Black?”
“Yeah”
“I don’t think so”
“Why not?”
“First he is engaged and second we don’t talk that much. I am I supposed to ask him that kind of thing?”
“John is really a nice guy he wouldn’t refuse”
“Great I would totally humiliate myself to him”
“It is either John or Bo or else you have to tell them the truth”
“Fine John then. Oh my God I must be crazy for asking him such a thing. He will think I am a weirdo”
The next morning Marlena didn’t go to school but instead she and Hope, went to John’s house.
“I can’t believe I’m about to do”
“You have no other choice sweetie”
Few seconds later John opened the door and led them inside
“How is Melinda” Hope asked
“She is out of town. She went to visit her sister”
“And when will she come back?”
“She said that she would stay there 2 weeks”
Once they sat John feeling curious asked

“We need to borrow you” Hope replied

“Hope!!” Marlena hit her, feeling completely embarrassed.

“And what you want is from me to pretend to be Marlena’s boyfriend”
“You will only show at school, say a simple hi and then you can go. Please I am really desperate here. Please do me this favor and I’ll do what ever you want”
“You know Marlena I am not person who likes lies”
“I know and I don’t like lies either but I had no choice. I just want them to stop teasing me” By now Marlena had tears in her eyes
“Please John you have to help Marlena. It’s not a big deal. You will just show up, say hi and then you will be gone, end of story”
“I am sorry you two but I can’t do that. I can’t lie”
“Its ok, I understand. Well then, I better go. Thanks, bye John”
“Marlena wait!!…” Hope tried to stop her but Marlena was long gone
“I can’t believe you refused John. What the hell is the matter with you? We didn’t ask you to marry her, just do this little favor”
“I’m sorry Hope but I couldn’t say yes”
Marlena was sitting on a bench under a tree at her school reading the notes of yesterday’s classes that she missed. The truth is , she was trying to read but her mind was constantly wondering to her conversation with John
“God Marlena you really did made a fool out of yourself this time. How could you ever think he would help”
“Are you talking to yourself now too?”
Marlena jumped a little when she heard Kristen’s voice
“And do you always sneak around?”
“What’s the matter Marlena? You got up from the wrong side of the bed?”
Kristen and the rest started to laugh
“Why didn’t you come to school yesterday?”
“I couldn’t”
“I think she is avoiding us” Rebecca, Kristen’s friend said
“I am not avoiding you, I just couldn’t come”
“I don’t think you were avoiding us because we want to meet your boyfriend”
“Which boyfriend?” Rebecca asked sarcastically
Marlena was about to cry but she tried to be strong. She wouldn’t break in front of them
“So Marlena where is your boyfriend? Or did you just made that up?”
“Hey baby”
Marlena’s heart nearly stopped when she heard his voice, and seconds later she felt his arms wrap around her
“John”
John came to her school so he could talk to Marlena why he couldn’t play her boyfriend. But when he saw how the other girls were treating her, he decided to give them a lesson so they could leave Marlena alone from now on.
“John what are you doing here?” Marlena asked, not expecting to see him here
“I came to see you baby. I missed you terribly” He placed a light kiss on her lips and she felt like she was going to faint.
John glanced over at the others, who were looking with mouth open wide. Marlena realized that John changed his mind
“John I would like you to meet some of my classmates. This is Kristen Blake, Rebecca Morrison, Cindy Howard and Lucy Jones. This is John Black, my boyfriend”
The others could only nod their heads, still opened mouth. They couldn’t believe that Marlena who they thought was a looser had such a hunk for boyfriend.
“Nice meeting you all” John said smiling at them, while hugging Marlena tighter
“Is it alright with you ladies if I could steal Marlena for few seconds?”
They only nodded again
The two of then went to sit on a bench while the others continued to stare at them.
“Wow it’s the first time that I see them speechless” They both laughed
“I want to thank you for changing your mind. It meant a lot to me”
“I am still against lying but I saw how much they were hurting you”
“Yeah I sometimes wonder if it would be better if I changed school”
“You can’t change your life because of them”
“It is too hard”
They talked for about 10 minutes but then Marlena had to go inside the class.
“Are they still looking?” John asked
“Yeah”
“Then lets give them something to remember us” before Marlena could ask what he had in mind, she found herself pressed in his arms and kissing him back. And it wasn’t a simple kiss like when he arrived. It was a long and passionate one. John could see that the others were still staring and so he decided to make his actions more bold, to give them something to talk about all week
“Marlena if it is alright with you I want to try something”

“I am fine. You are exercising right?”
“Yep”
“Marlena isn’t with you?”
“No”
“Aww is she too lazy for sports?”
“Marlena doesn’t need to work out to look fine, she is perfect”
Kristen wanted to puke but tried to stay friendly
“That’s nice to hear. Listen John, Tony , my boyfriend and I and Rebecca and her boyfriend want to go out tomorrow night and I thought it would be nice if you and Marlena could join us”
“Well..”
“Please..”
“The truth is that Marlena and I had plans for tomorrow, just the two of us”
“Oh please only this time”
“I’ll have to talk that with Marlena ok? And if she agrees she will let you know”
“Ok great! Now I better let you exercise again. Bye!”
“Bye bye…”
Once Kristen was gone John murmured
“What a witch”
“What was that all about?” Bo asked
“She is one of the bitches that make Marlena’s life a living hell. The poor girl even told me that she even considers changing school if this means that she wont see them again”
“Oh poor Marlena”
“Yeah, I don’t know how she can take this. I would have pounced her yesterday. You should have seeing how they were teasing her”
“Marlena has a good heart. She believes that everyone has a good side”
“Well not them”
“What are you gona do about the date thing? Will you go”?”
“I have to talk with Marlena about that”
“I hope you know where you are getting yourself into”
“What do you mean?”

“Don’t worry Bo. Nothing will happen. I only see her as that little girl I told you and I am engaged. I wouldn’t cheat on Melinda”
“What is this so urgent that you wanted to meet me?”
Marlena asked letting John step into her house.
“I’m sorry to bother you but I really need to talk to you”
“You aren’t bothering me. So what is this big emergency?”
“We have a problem. I was in the gym with Bo today and guess who I saw there”
“Who?”
“Kristen. She was there”
“Oh boy. She saw you?”
“Yep and not only that but you and I are invited to a double date with her and her boyfriend Tony and some other people”
“Oh no. And what did you tell her?
“At first I tried to refuse telling her that you and I had plans but she insisted so I told her I would ask you. What do we do now? Refuse?”
“Won’t she find that suspicious?”
“Yeah probably. Dunno”
“So we will accept?”
“Yeah”
“Alright”
John was sitting on her couch deep in thoughts when Marlena returned
“Alright I called her and told her we would come”
“K”
“I hope there won’t be any problems”
“We will make sure of that, that there wont be”
“What do you mean?”
“Since we are “a couple” that means that we know each other pretty well right?”
“Yes”
“So we have to get to know each other better so we can convince them as a couple”
“Ok”
“Ok let’s start asking questions. What is your favorite color?”
“Pink”
“Black”
“Flower?”
“Lilacs”
“I don’t have favorite flower”
And they spend most of the afternoon asking questions about one another and talking about their lives and their dreams. It was around 8 that John returned to his home. Once he got inside the phone started to ring.
“Hello”
”Where the hell have you been?”
“Melinda how nice to hear your sweet hello”
“Don’t give me that crap. I was calling all day and you weren’t answering. I thought that something happened to you”
“I am fine”
“Where were you?”
“I was over at Marlena’s”
“At Marlena’s?”
“Yes”
And John told her all the story
“And now you are going to pretend her boyfriend?”
“For few more days”
“I don’t like it”
“You have nothing to worry about ok? How is your sister?”
“She is fine”
They talked for 5 more minutes and then they said their byes
“I don’t like this at all. john alone with Marlena near him” Melinda thought to herself
“Wait a second, I’m coming” Marlena yelled when she heard a knock on the door. It was the day of the date with Kristen and co and John came to pick her up. Marlena opened the door and John stepped inside.
“What?”
Marlena asked when she noticed that John was staring at her
“Is something wrong?”
“Oh No, no. Wow you look incredible”
Marlena was wearing a tight mini black skirt, a flower colored V blouse that was showing just a bit of cleavage and black jacket

“You look good too. Umm I have to get my purse and then we can go ok?”

Two minutes later Marlena returned and the two of them went to the movies where they would meet the others.

The lights went off and the movie Scream started. All focused their attention to the screen except for John who was discreetly watching Marlena, more correct Marlena’s body. “I guess John you found the love of your life”
“Oh I did” John was staring at Marlena making her shift on her sit.

One hour later they were still at McDonalds, Kristen was gossiping about everything and everyone and Marlena had enough of that. She just wanted to go home. John could see that and so he asked
“Sweetheart, you look a little tired, you want us to go?”
“If it is alright with you..”
“Sure”
They said their goodbyes to the others and left. They were in the car. Marlena was quiet and John was glancing at her often
“Hey you ok?”
‘I am just glad it is over. I couldn’t stand to listen to Kristen’s gossips anymore. I am pretty sure they are gossiping us right now”
“I don’t give a damn if they do. And you shouldn’t either”
John parked his car on his garage and escorted Marlena till her house, which was across from his.
“Thank you for doing this for me” Marlena said once they were standing outside the door.
“Your welcome, but I still believe that it would be better if you told the truth. You can’t continue lying to them”
“Yes I know and I don’t know why I feel so afraid about that, I don’t know, everything is a mess, and I got into this mess”
“Hey I wanted to help you. You look tired, I think its time to say goodnight. We can talk about it tomorrow”
“Yeah. Night John”
“Night Marlena” he bend his head and kissed her on her cheek. After that he went to his house. While he was closing the door behind him, he was wondering what it would be like to kiss her lips.

“I’m glad you like it. Would you like to dance?”

“Fuck! I have to call the plumber again. Damn it! I though he had fixed it the last time. Now what?”
He was standing in the middle of the bathroom, clad only with a towel around him and his hair full of soap.
“Just great”
He tried to remove the soap from his hair with his towel but it was useless.
“No what do I do without water?’
He was pacing back and forth in the living room, trying to find a solution. He sat on the sofa, putting his head in his hands
“This can’t be happening”
When he raised his head the first thing he saw was Marlena’s house from across.
“Should I? But this it totally insane. But I can’t stay that way either. Ok I’m going”
He grabbed his robe and a towel, put his slippers on and after he made sure no one was at the street he went to Marlena’s house
“This is crazy. She probably will think I lost my mind” he was murmuring while knocking at her door
“What happened to you?”
Marlena asked surprised when she saw John standing in front of her
“It’s a long story and I will tell you it later but right now can I use your shower?”
“Sure, I’ll show you where it is”
“Thanks”
John followed Marlena to her bathroom and bumped into her when she suddenly stopped.

“Its ok”
“Here it is. You have towel with you?”
“Yeah I have”
“Ok, then enjoy your bath. I’ll see you later”
Marlena left and John was standing in the middle of the room, looking around. He chuckled when he realized that the whole bathroom was pink. He removed his robe and boxers and stepped into the shower. The warm water that fell on his body felt heavenly and John closed his eyes, enjoying it.

“What took you so long?” Hope asked once Marlena opened the door for her wrapped only in a sheet something that didn’t go unnoticed by Hope. “Now I see. I guess you are not alone”

“It’s been 1 month that you started your affair and he still didn’t say anything to Melinda”

Marlena closed the door and returned to John who was lying in bed, his lower region only covered with the sheet. She sat on the bed and sighed

2 hours later John returned home “What is this?” The lights were dimmed, soft music was playing and dinner for two

She went towards him and hugged him but John didn’t feel good lying to her. He was playing with both Melinda and Marlena’s feelings and now it was time to tell the truth. He pulled from her and looked her in the eyes

Melinda turned around and went towards their bedroom. John followed her and saw that she started to pack

It was 12.00 o clock and Marlena was sitting on a bench of her school with some other girls talking about the class and the exams, when she saw John coming towards her.

Marlena got up and John took her hand and together they went and sat on another bench

But John wasn’t listening. He pushed her skirt up and tore her panties away. He entered her immediatelly causing Marlena to screamin in pleasure and in pain since she wasn’t ready for him. A month passed from the last time John and Marlena saw each other and broke it off and during that time John was busy with the wedding plans while Marlena was continuing with her studies and was trying to move on with her life. She and Hope were sitting and drinking their coffees when Marlena saw that something caught Hope’s attention on the newspaper
“What are your reading ? You got upset”

“It’s ok, really and i really would like you to be at my wedding”

Marlena didn’t know what to think of this visit
Today is the day. Today is the day of John and Melinda’s wedding and Marlena was getting ready so she could go there. She knew it would be difficult for her to watch the man she loved marrying somebody else, but she had to do it. She arrives at the church and spots her best friend with Bo there

Melinda was just standing there looking at Marlena

Marlena couldn’t belive her ears. Melinda made a 180o turn. From sweet and forgiving she became bitter and mean

Marlena couldnt take it anymore and she left the room. Few minutes later the wedding started and Marlena sat on a chair, watching John standing at the Altar

Marlena was so deep in thoughts , she didn’t even realize the ceremory started and they were at the I do’s part. Melinda just finised saying hers and now it was John’s turn

She started to cry and get more and more upset

Just as John was to answer he saw Marlena passing out on the floor. A lot of people went over there to see what is happening, John did to.

Slowly Marlena woke up and the first thing she saw was John

Suddenly she sat up and touched her stomach

Marlena was sitting on a chair surrounded by people who were worried about her. From the corner of her eyes she could see John standing behind Hope, staring at her. She swallowed, she couldn’t understand him, and that frightened her a little. Her fear got bigger when she saw him coming towards her

Just then, Melinda came too, asking from John to continue the wedding since Marlena was ok

“In a minute, I just need to talk to Marlena”
“John, really we should continue” Melinda insisted because she was afraid that John was going to ask her about the baby

Melinda could see John was upset and because she didn’t want to piss him more off, she backed off and went to stand near the altar, watching them
John was staring at Marlena, she shivered but she decided to be calm and not let him upset her. She knew what he heard

Just then John came in

As Marlena was getting ready , John knocked on the door and came inside

The next morning John went early to Marlena’s place and together they moved her stuff to his place. Her room would be next to the baby’s and across from his. Marlena still didnt feel okay with the idea. She was inlove with John and living with him would be hard for her.
“Ok I think everything is settled now”

“Yeah just little worried about my pregnancy. I have no idea how to handle it”

“No problem. When do you think we should start working on the baby’s room?”
“I don’t know. Isn’t it early yet?”

“I have doctor’s appointment tommow and I was wondering…”

John couldn’t finish his sentence since Marlena pushed him out of the way and ran to the bathroom. John followed her but was met with a closed door. He could hear from inside Marlena throwing up. Later she opened the door , looking pale
“You find throwing up amazing too?” she asked rolling her eyes

She left him standing there and went to lie down for few hours …
Next morning arrived and Marlena with John were on their way to see the Doctor. During the ride to the hospital John noticed Marlena was quiet

15 minutes later they arrived. John was still holding Marlena’s hand and they knocked on the door

Marlena only nodded. The doctor placed a light blanket over Marlena’s lower body -much to John dismay- because he could see Marlena was still feeling uncomfortable

“No problem” he winked at her and Marlena blushed more
“Oh thats cold”
“Told you so. But it doens’t hurt”

“Ok, well here is your baby , can you both see it ?”
Marlena nodded happily while John had to come closer
“Where?”
“Here. You see?”

“Right there John” Marlena pointed to the monitor
“You still can’t see it?”
“No. Sorry doctor”
“It’s ok, I will show you again. You see that?”
“That?!? That’s my baby? And I thought it was just a spot” John said in amazment
“Nope that’s your baby”
“Oh my God. It is so tiny”
“Well it is still soon”
“Oh my God”
Marlena was grinning from ear to ear and John had a silly look on his face
“Oh that is my son. Junior”
“Excuse me?! Your son?”
“Umm our”
“Much better”
Dr. Bader was laughing
“I have to admit you two are my favorite patients”
all three of them were laughing. Dr. Bader opened the sound and they could hear their baby’s heartbeat.
“Well your baby is healty and strong”
Marlena had tears on her eyes and John wiped them away with his thumb. The doctor walked away for few minutes to give them some privacy
“Our baby John. Really spooky”
“Spooky?”
“Yeah if you think about it. It only needed 30 minutes of sex and we created a child?”
“Hey? 30 minutes? It was more. Way more”
“John!! That is not the point. Ok it was more than 30 minutes, it was hours” she rolled her eyes
“Hey. No need to be sarcastic but I know what you mean. Pretty amazing”
Marlena placed her hand on her stomach. Few tears were running down her cheeks again
“Hey”
“ I am going to have a baby”
“Well yeah”
“I know I’ve been awhile pregnant but I just now realized it when I saw our baby in the monitor and heard its heartbeat. We will be responsible for a human being and if we screw up we will screw up her his life”
“Marlena you shouldn’t think this way. We won’t screw up his her life”
“You don’t know that. We are both young. We will make mistakes”
“Yes we will make mistakes but we will work things out. And you know why I know that ? because it is written on your face”
“Huh? What is?”
“That you were born to be a mommy. Which I can’t say about me..”
“Why do you say that John?”
“Well I thought our baby was a spot!”
Both burst into laughter. Dr Bader entered his office again and cleared his throat. Marlena and John pulled away from their embrace
“sorry to interrupt”
“It’s ok”
“I just wanted to let you know that we are done”
“Oh thank God”
Marlena quickly sat up and went to get dressed. John was chuckling
“John, I can hear you laugh” she said behind the curtain
“Umm sorry”
When she came out John was sitting on the chair near the doctors desk while Dr. Bader was writting something on a piece of paper
“Marlena I want you to take this pills”
‘Why pills? You said she is fine”
“She is john. They are just vitamines”
“Oh”
“Yes and in few weeks you will have to come again to check on you. The examination wasn’t that bad now was it?”
“Easy for you to say doctor. You weren’t lying there with your legs open and letting someone put stuff in you!”
Robert laughed again and gave her the prescription
“Oh and one thing. Since things are good with your health, you two can have sex. And during the whole pregnancy from what I can see”
Marlena’s eyes widen in horror
“What ? did i say something wrong?”
“Umm Marlena and I aren’t together anymore. We had an affair for a while but that ended. We are friends now”
“Yes friends” Marlena turned her head around so John woudn’t see the hurt in her eyes
“Oh i’m sorry” but truth was he wasn’t sorry. Now he had a chance with Marlena
“It’s ok. We should be going” Marlena said shaking the doctor’s hand
“Here is my card with my phone numbers on. Mobile here and the one from my home”
Marlena smiled at him, thanked him again and they left.
During the ride home John was wondering why on earth would Dr. Bader give his home number to Marlena ?
